Fab Lab IUB Participated in ‘Digital World-2017’ along with ICT Division of Bangladesh

“Digital World 2017” this concurrent mega event started on December 06, 2017 with the slogan “Ready for Tomorrow”. The event has been attended by more than 500 exhibitors from Bangladesh and abroad including policy makers, senior government officials & ministers, industry leaders, civil society spokespersons, investors and multinational software vendor.It is the largest ICT Expo of Bangladesh which hosts IT Industry, Government, Academia, professionals, industry leaders, innovative products and services to highlight the achievements, applications and economic potentials of ICT. This event provides a platform to establish network with the local and regional/global IT-ITES industry leaders and experts with a view to sharing their best practices and experiences.

Mr. Md. Nabir Uddin, Senior System Analyst, ICT Division of Bangladesh, allowed Fab Lab of IUB (Independent University, Bangladesh) to participate in the event in ICT divisions allocated stall with them. Fab Lab IUB proudly participated to the event with their recently developed product RetroPie- classic games on emulator software. This fabricated product paid great attention to the visitors came from different industries and educational institutions. Some of them also showed interest in jointly collaborate on future development of the projects. Flyers and communication details of Fab Lab IUB was distributed to visitors who were very keen to know about Fab Lab IUB.

In a brief of Fab Lab IUB, in total eight (8) universities have been awarded by Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) to setup fabrication laboratory (Fablab). IUB is the only private university that has won award for two years period (Jan 2017 – Dec 2018). Dr. Mahady Hasan Asst. Professor of the university is leading this project as SPM.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today inaugurated ‘Digital World’, an exposition organised to showcase the progress of Bangladesh’s IT industry, at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka. So far, 162 companies including Google, Facebook, Motorola, Qualcomm have signed up for Digital World 2017 with the slogan ‘Ready for Tomorrow’. State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak presenting a memento to the makers of Sophia during the inaugural session of Digital World at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka city on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. The organisers — the ICT Division and the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services – expect to have about 400 exhibitors from home and abroad and 5 lakh visitors.
